Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) allows Arkansas citizens to inspect and obtain copies of public records or public meetings unless an exception applies. The Federal Freedom of Information Act applies similarly to federal records. The Department of the Military is an Arkansas State Agency that operates in conjunction with the Federal Arkansas National Guard. Many military records are federal in nature and usually require a federal FOIA to obtain. When requesting any records please specify if you are requesting state, federal, or both types of records to ensure the most efficient processing of your request.
Individuals wishing to submit a FOIA request to the Department of the Military or Arkansas National Guard may mail the request to the address below or email the request to [email protected].
FOIA requests must be specific as to the information sought. Once received, and depending on the type of request, you will receive a confirmation with an anticipated timeline for a response.
